According to the observations of experts from the University of British Columbia (Canada), students who study music are much better able to cope with language and mathematical exams than their peers who do not have such a hobby. Guzuasis and his colleagues for many years trying to understand whether there is a relationship between academic success and music classes. To test the accuracy of this hypothesis, scientists from the University of BritishColumbia, led by Guzuasis, followed a record-breaking group of schoolchildren from Canada over 110 high school students who had recently passed the final or intermediate exams.

After analyzing the results of the children, the experts divided the students into two groups. The first turned out to be students interested in music (13%), in the second all the rest. Separately, sociologists compared the results of the children within the first group, depending on what kind of music the children learned, what instrument they played and what success they achieved. The study allowed scientists to make severaldiscoveries at once.

As Guzuasis concludes: “On average, children who were learning to play an instrument in an orchestra or in a group overtook their peers for about a year by the level of their knowledge and skills in all disciplines. Most likely, the need to understand the notes, to play well in a team and to be able to manage their own hands very finely plays an important role in the accelerated self-development of thesechildren. ”…
